Another trojan for MAC has been seen in the wild. Like its sister “flashback” the SX/Sabpab-A / virus exploits vulnerabilities in Apple’s version of Java. Apple dev their own version of Java and, it would seem, are not as quick to patch the vulnerabilities.
Kaspersky estimated that 670,000 Macs running OS X were infected with flashback and now this. SX/Sabpab-A / seems to be a targeted virus, exploiting Java and allowing for the Trojan to call “home” to receive instruction, log activity, and provide access to the victim’s machine.
While it might not be panic stations for Apple users just yet, it does warm the cockles of my heart to know they’re getting WTD’s (web transmitted diseases).
